Quartet FS, the innovative provider of in-memory analytics announces that effective immediately, customers can choose between an enlarged panel of front-end user interfaces to access its flagship ActivePivot engine, strengthening the reach of the ActivePivot ecosystem. The ActivePivot solution now features enhanced compatibility with alternative visualisation tools, such as Microsoft Excel, Spotfire and Tableau.
This non-proprietary approach means customers using other front-end interfaces, alternative to Quartet FS’ ActiveUI function, can benefit from its advanced aggregation and analytics functionalities as well. This gives clients in the financial services, e-commerce and supply chain sectors the freedom to develop applications based on ActivePivot, in the standard query language, MDX. This development allows customers to protect current IT investments, without the need to rip and replace existing front-end solutions.
Following feedback from its customer base, Quartet FS has created a more flexible and open platform, incorporating rich user interfaces compatible to the MDX (Multidimensional Expressions) query language and XMLA communication protocol. Typical examples of tools now enabled to query the ActivePivot server are Tableau Software, TIBCO Spotfire, Oracle OBIEE and Microsoft Excel 2007, 2010 and 2013.
MDX is the standard query language for Online Analytical Processing systems (OLAP). A real-time OLAP engine, ActivePivot relies on a custom MDX parser and interpreter that has been designed from the ground up to provide best-in-class response times for some of the most complex analytical queries.
